Winner of the Big Lunch Animation Competition Announced!
Last month Aardman partnered with The Big Lunch to offer budding animators the chance to create a short film to publicise the national event. After a tricky judging process – including both animation experts and members of the public – 13-year-old Tia Margan’s entry was picked as the overall winner! Tia, who lives in Milton Keynes, came up with an imaginative animation entitled ‘Mad Morph Tea Party’ which you can take a look at below.
The judging panel included Aardman’s Creative Director Merlin Cressingham and after he and his fellow judges selected a shortlist of four entries, the voting was then opened up to the public on Facebook. Tia’s winning entry not only becomes the official Big Lunch film, but she also wins an exclusive workshop for ten friends with Aardman’s model makers.
The Big Lunch takes place on Sunday 8th June and aims to get as many people in the UK to get together for lunch, making friends and sharing in some community spirit along the way! The event began in 2009 and has seen all sorts of fun events, both big and small, take place across the country. In 2013 3.6 million people took to their streets, gardens, playgrounds and parks and this year looks set to be even bigger than ever! Anyone can take part and a Big Lunch can be small (you could invite a handful of neighbours over for a sandwich and a cuppa, perhaps) or really big, involving a party for the whole street, with food, music, fun and games!
